Disability Housing Network reaches half of all Ohio counties with housing corporation membership

COLUMBUS, OHIO (September 19, 2008) - The Disability Housing Network (DHN) is proud to announce that its membership of nonprofit housing corporations now reaches half of all Ohio counties.
With Eastern Ohio Housing Development Corporation (EOHDC) and Delaware Creative Housing joining in August, DHN now represents housing corporations in 44 Ohio counties. Delaware Creative Housing, based in Delaware County and also covering Union County, has 25 homes for 85 residents. Eastern Ohio Housing Development Corporation has 45 homes in seven counties (Belmont, Guernsey, Harrison, Jefferson, Knox, Monroe, and Muskingum) for 96 residents. With several housing corporations covering multiple counties, DHN counts 29 housing corporations as its members. Additionally, 19 county Boards of MRDD support DHN financially.
The 44 counties covered by housing corporations that are members are: Belmont, Butler, Champaign, Clark, Crawford, Cuyahoga, Darke, Defiance, Delaware, Erie, Fairfield, Franklin, Geauga, Greene, Guernsey, Hamilton, Harrison, Henry, Highland, Huron, Jefferson, Knox, Lake, Licking, Lorain, Madison, Marion, Medina, Miami, Monroe, Montgomery, Muskingum, Noble, Pike, Preble, Richland, Seneca, Star, Summit, Trumbull, Union, Vinton, Williams, Wood.
The 19 county Boards of MRDD that support DHN financially are: Belmont, Brown, Clermont, Cuyahoga, Delaware, Erie, Franklin, Geauga, Greene, Hocking, Jackson, Licking, Madison, Morgan, Mercer, Noble, Preble, Union, and Vinton. Disability Housing Network is a Columbus-based, statewide membership association whose mission is to promote and support education and best practices in the development and management of rental housing for individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities by member non-profit housing development corporations. DHN accomplishes this mission by hosting statewide and regional conferences throughout the year, maintaining an online resource library and listserv for special needs housing professionals, conducting surveys of and research on the special needs housing field in Ohio, and engaging the Ohio Department of MRDD on issues of importance to housing corporations.
